Granite Belt Choir

The Granite Belt Choir has been active in the Stanthorpe district for more than forty years. Our 30 plus members come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a varying skill set to the choir. Our common link is the joy of song.
Jeanene Chapman is the musical director of the choir and she leads us through all styles of music from Bach to Andrew Lloyd Webber. The choir is very active in the community. Our regular programme includes contributions to public events such as the Anzac Day ceremony and Carols in the Park, through to regular performances in the Regional Art Gallery and the biennial Apple and Grape Festival. During the alternate year to the festival we perform a musical, most recently The White Horse Inn in 2009, Iolanthe in 2007 and The Gondoliers in 2005.
We have tapped into the younger members of the community when our Junior Choir was formed a couple of years ago. This group seeks to encourage children during their primary school years to nuture a love of singing. The Juniors meet every Monday afternoon at 4:00pm. Membership of the Junior Choir is $10.00 and covers the cost of music and sundry insurances.
The Senior Choir meet every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm at Stanthorpe Little Theatre in Connor Street. Our rehearsal runs for 2 hours and is followed by supper on the first Wednesday of each month. Membership of the Choir is $20.00 per annum. Anyone who enjoys choral music is welcome to join. We do not require auditions.
Further information about both choirs may be obtained by contacting choir president, Suzette, on 4681 2962 or
